Tribes – Victory Worship Chords and Lyrics
A song of praise from Victory Worship which describes a response to God, that all nations, tribes, and tongues will praise and worship as we see and witness His glory and reign.
It has this famous line “Ayo-ayo-ayo-waa,” and it would help that before you sing this song in church, you should at least know what it means.
Originally, according to one of its writers, “Ayo-ayo-ayo-waa” was added as a chant, a fresh way of saying “woah” in a song, another way of shouting praise to God and has no actual meaning.
But upon checking, Ayo is Indonesian for “come on” and ayo-waa is an African word meaning “joy,” so the line can be interpreted as “Come on, joy!”
So, as you sing “Ayo-ayo-ayo-waa,” you are inviting others to joyfully sing to the Lord.
